Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey West Sussex
Alver Valley Country Park
If you want a playground on your walk, you really can’t find better than the one at Alver Valley Country Park. If you can drag the children away from the play equipment, the rest of the park offers easy walks with ponds, views of The Solent, various wildlife habitats, and even a second play area.
Cheesefoot Head
On the downs above Winchester, the quirkily named Cheesefoot Head is an area of far reaching views with a network of paths including the South Downs Way. In the summer there are meadows of wildflowers and often fields of blue linseed.
St Catherine’s Hill
Easily accessible from the centre of Winchester, St Catherine’s Hill not only has great views but it also is home to an intriguing mizmaze; a turf labyrinth that children will love to solve.
Newlands Corner and Silent Pool
Near Guildford, this popular beauty spot has plenty to offer the whole family from a variety of long and short trails, a Discovery Centre, natural play area, café, toilets, views, picnic benches, art installation and even a nearby gin distillery!
Halnaker Windmill
Photographers come from far and wide to see the famous tree tunnel at Halnaker, near Chichester, in its Autumn glory. But this is a walk for all seasons with an atmospheric ruin, vineyards and a hilltop windmill to see along the way.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
Covering two national parks and two national landscapes, our detailed guides have all the information you need to get the whole family out walking right away.
