Lakeside Nature Reserve
This pocket sized nature reserve packs in one large and some smaller lakes, woodland, meadow and an adventure playground. The walk is short and incredibly easy to follow so makes a great option for small children.
California Country Park
Many families will come to California Country Park for its outstanding play area, sensory water play and seasonal paddling pool. But there is more to be discovered in the park, including lakeside walks and a hundred acres of lowland heath and bogland accessed by boardwalks.
Lightwater Country Park
Many families come to Lightwater Country Park for the play area, café, ponds and adventure golf, but there is much more to this park. Heathland walks take you to a viewpoint where you can see as far as the London skyline.
Rockford Common
At the far western edge of Hampshire is this must do walk for families with a huge sandpit to explore, a ford to paddle in and a lakeside pub with an excellent play area.
Flood Meadows
Flood meadows is an absolute gem on the edge of Alton. Close to its source, the River Wey flows through this recreational space where dogs and children can splash, picnic and see the ducks. Our route then explores the surrounding countryside and farmland with a stop at two play areas.
