The ‘secret’ play area found on the Liss Riverside Walk
The old military railway line beside the River Rother is flat and even, making is suitable for wheels as well as feet. The route is a linear one and is incredibly easy to follow. Start at either end and and enjoy this simple walk over bridges and past a secret park, where dogs can swim in the river.
The Route
Exit the car park and cross the road to find the start of the path opposite. Go through the gate and that is pretty much all the directions this walk needs!
The path will lead you across some lovely wooden bridges over the River Rother in a reasonably straight line all the way to Liss station. You will need to come back the same way for this walk.
The little play area in the photos can be found as you get close to Liss in a grassy clearing by the river. There is a sandy bank where dogs can get down to the water to play. Children, however, might find the slope and murky water off-putting for proper paddling.
The route was once a military railway and children might enjoy looking out for some of the evidence of this lurking in the undergrowth. The old platform is just past the play area.
You can of course do this walk the other way round by parking in Liss.
