Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey West Sussex
Sutton Scotney
There are quite a few parks on our website, but this one is really special. It has ample parking, a brilliant play area, a little section of riverside boardwalk and best of all, a place where children can safely access the shallow water of the River Dever via steps and a small pontoon.
Wootton Bridge
Wootton Bridge car park is situated beside a wide, shallow section of Avon Water where children can play in the river and picnic on the banks. Our suggested walk then loops you through the woodland of Wootton Coppice Inclosure and Brownhill Inclosure where you will almost certainly spot ponies grazing in the shade of the trees.
Allbrook to Bishopstoke
This linear route explores the section of the Itchen way between Allbrook and Bishopstoke. The water is in view to your side throughout the whole walk and it is easy to spot wildlife in the clear water. The recreation ground in Bishopstoke provided a sensible turning back point, after a play at the little park.
Rockford Common
At the far western edge of Hampshire is this must do walk for families with a huge sandpit to explore, a ford to paddle in and a lakeside pub with an excellent play area.
Flood Meadows
Flood meadows is an absolute gem on the edge of Alton. Close to its source, the River Wey flows through this recreational space where dogs and children can splash, picnic and see the ducks. Our route then explores the surrounding countryside and farmland with a stop at two play areas.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
Covering two national parks and two national landscapes, our detailed guides have all the information you need to get the whole family out walking right away.
