Farlington Marshes

There aren’t many walks we do that I actually think are better in the winter, but this could be one. During the colder months especially, this habitat is home to an internationally important population of wading birds and wildfowl. And all just a hop across the water from the city of Portsmouth.

What I love about a walk in Chichester Harbour AONB is that the views change entirely depending on whether the tide is in or out. Whichever you get on this walk, both will be stunning.

What’s new?

  • The heather is looking incredible right now on our revamped walk on Weaver’s Down near Liphook

  • We were pleased to discover all the paths were open again on the Otter Trail beside the Itchen Navigation. We even discovered a miniature steam train kids can ride at weekends just off the route!

  • We have added an extension to this walk at Chichester Marina to include Birdham Pool and a stop at the Scuttlebutt Cafe (see members area for a 10% discount)

  • We have added a longer alternative to this route at Chilworth Gunpowder Mills that starts from the hill top church, St. Martha’s. We have also added a special discount for our members at the riverside pub, The Percy Arms.

  • Some new photos have been added to this gorgeous walk beside the Basingstoke Canal at Winchfield and Dogmersfield. I love how the bridge frames this one!

  • The New Forest Reptile Centre has just opened again for the summer holidays, which also means children can venture into the forest on the Discovery Trail.
