Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey West Sussex
Frensham Great Pond
You might not expect to find a green flag beach in land-locked Surrey, but there is one that you can enjoy on this walk on the banks of Frensham Great Pond.
Chilbolton Cow Common
The River Test gently flows through Chilbolton Cow Common with a wide, shallow ford. There are some excellent riverside pubs in the area, making this an ideal weekend walk.
Horsebridge & King’s Somborne
Starting in Horsebridge near the old station, this walk makes its way to the larger village of King’s Somborne. The route will take you straight through the recreation ground, with a kid’s play area, to the church and pub. The homeward stretch rises over the countryside before descending towards the meadows of the River Test with a ford where children can paddle.
Bramshott Common
Not far from the A3, Bramshott Common is an easy place to explore and just next door, The National Trust manages Waggoners Wells with it’s three interconnected ponds. This walk includes both areas and is particularly enjoyable in the autumn when an avenue of Canadian maples turns bright crimson.
Fishbourne Meadows
An easy walk through the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that takes you to the clear meadow waters, perfect for a paddle.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
Covering two national parks and two national landscapes, our detailed guides have all the information you need to get the whole family out walking right away.
