Flood Meadows
Flood meadows is an absolute gem on the edge of Alton. Close to its source, the River Wey flows through this recreational space where dogs and children can splash, picnic and see the ducks. Our route then explores the surrounding countryside and farmland with a stop at two play areas.
Abinger Roughs
This is a linear walk that features plenty of things to keep young walkers motivated from ancient trees, a tea-room, riverside pubs with play areas, a natural woodland play area, a village playground, a paddling spot and a farm shop.
Fordingbridge
The wide shallow ford at Fordingbridge has to be the best place to paddle in Hampshire and just to add to it, the park next door has its own paddling pool too. You can park up next to the site, or follow our walk from the forest's edge.
Southwater Country Park
Cripplegate Lake is at the centre of Southwater Country Park near Horsham. It has a paddling beach and a Dinosaur Island adventure play area.
Chilworth Gunpowder Mills & St. Martha’s Hill
Hidden among the trees beside the River Tillingbourne are the remnants of our industrial heritage. As well as uncovering the ruins from the gunpowder mills, children can also find a paddling area in one of the old waterways.
Odiham and King John’s Castle
A walk along the Basingstoke canal never disappoints and this one has some bonus features such as a waterside pub, a ford to paddle in and the free to entre ruins of King John’s Castle.
