Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey West Sussex
Durleighmarsh to Durford Wood
At the heart of this easy walk near Petersfield is the pick-your-own farm where strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries are ripe for the picking in summer and pumpkins in autumn.
Pyrford Lock
This walk along The River Wey Navigation packs in an awful lot. The romantic remains of Newark Priory, an Elizabethan summer house, a riverside pub and plenty of locks, weirs and bridges.
Emsworth to Langstone
This coastal walk connects two of the most picture postcard harbours in Hampshire. With options for pubs along the way and plenty of opportunities for seashore explorations, this is a delightful family walk.
Hatchet Pond
The New Forest’s largest freshwater pond is a magnet for animals and birds and is one of the most wildlife rich bodies of water in lowland England. This walk crosses the heathland, purple in late summer, to reach it.
Farlington Marshes
There aren’t many walks we do that I actually think are better in the winter, but this could be one. During the colder months especially, this habitat is home to an internationally important population of wading birds and wildfowl. And all just a hop across the water from the city of Portsmouth.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
Covering two national parks and two national landscapes, our detailed guides have all the information you need to get the whole family out walking right away.
