Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey West Sussex
Cheriton to Hinton Ampner
This walk starts at the pretty village of Cheriton where you will find a young River Itchen, a historical battle field, a pub and a secluded play area. It then crosses fields to reach the parkland of Hinton Ampner, where you can get a good view of the historical house and its gardens.
Chichester Canal
Straight, flat, easy to follow and rich in wildlife; The Chichester Ship Canal ticks all the boxes when it comes to a family walk. If you have never walked here before, you will be shocked to discover the secret of this beautiful waterway that quietly passes right beneath the A27.
Halnaker Windmill
Photographers come from far and wide to see the famous tree tunnel at Halnaker, near Chichester, in its Autumn glory. But this is a walk for all seasons with an atmospheric ruin, vineyards and a hilltop windmill to see along the way.
Winchfield
The restored Basingstoke Canal is a beautiful place to walk or navigate. It is a haven for wildlife and rich in history. This walk takes you around one of the most attractive sections between Dogmersfield and Winchfield.
Titchfield Abbey
This is a linear walk that packs in many sights. It starts from the Titchfield Canal and follows the water for a short way before emerging at the village, whose main street is lined with historic timber framed buildings. From there, the walk will lead you to Titchfield Abbey and a children’s play area.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.

Walk of the week.
I always love a walk by The Basingstoke Canal in the autumn. The trees overhanging the canal reflect their auburn colours in the water and the fallen leaves create an amber pathway alongside. This walk is along the un-restored section on the western side of the Greywell Tunnel near Up-Nately.
