On the downs above Winchester, the quirkily named Cheesefoot Head is an area of far reaching views with a network of paths including the South Downs Way. In the summer there are meadows of wildflowers and often fields of blue linseed.

From The Deers Hut pub, with its cosy interiors and large open space frontage, this walk heads off around the surrounding heath and woodland. In summer, there is a spectacular ‘valley of heather’.

Easily accessible from the centre of Winchester, St Catherine’s Hill not only has great views but it also is home to an intriguing mizmaze; a turf labyrinth that children will love to solve.

This is a fantastic family walk that starts from the delightful Georgian town of Alresford, with its independent shops and eateries, before joining the crystal clear river where you will spot one of Hampshire’s most photographed homes.

Near Guildford, this popular beauty spot has plenty to offer the whole family from a variety of long and short trails, a Discovery Centre, natural play area, café, toilets, views, picnic benches, art installation and even a nearby gin distillery!

Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian monastery in Britain. The ruins are now free to roam around and can be combined with this gentle walk to the attractive village of Tilford, with a pub on its village green.
