Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey West Sussex
Thursley Common
Snaking its way from Moat Pond to Pudmore Pond across the lowland heath and marshes, the beautiful wooden boardwalk at Thursley Common appears to actually enhance the already spectacular natural scenery. If you want a longer walk, follow our route to the village with pub and play area.
Pagham Harbour
Pagham Harbour is a nature reserve on one of the few undeveloped stretches of the West Sussex coast and it is an internationally important wetland site for wildlife.
Alver Valley Country Park
If you want a playground on your walk, you really can’t find better than the one at Alver Valley Country Park. If you can drag the children away from the play equipment, the rest of the park offers easy walks with ponds, views of The Solent, various wildlife habitats, and even a second play area.
Weavers Down
From The Deers Hut pub, with its cosy interiors and large open space frontage, this walk heads off around the surrounding heath and woodland. In summer, there is a spectacular ‘valley of heather’.
Holly Hill Woodland Park
Holly Hill Woodland Park is a restored example of Victorian landscaped parkland. You will find ponds, exotic tree species, rock features and ornamental bridges as well as native woodland with a fabulous viewpoint over The River Hamble.
Petersfield Heath & Pond
The jewel in the crown of the ancient market town of Petersfield, the Heath and The Pond have long been popular with families looking for an easy stroll with plenty to keep the children entertained.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
Covering two national parks and two national landscapes, our detailed guides have all the information you need to get the whole family out walking right away.

Walk of the week.
For Halloween week, try this walk on the Sussex/Hampshire border that passes the Racton Ruin, apparently one of the most haunted places you will find on one of our walks. If you want to warm yourself up after any chilling encounters, there is also a tea room en-route.
