Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey West Sussex
Fittleworth
Fittleworth is between Petworth and Pulborough in the heart of the South Downs and it has an award winning, community run village stores and cafe. Directly beside this is an enclosed children’s play area. Fittleworth is surrounded by pockets of woodland, common land and South Downs views - all of which our walk makes the most of.
Street Croft Farm
Street Croft Farm, south of Basingstoke, is a working farm with farm shop, café, animals and children’s games. If you want to make your day in the countryside even better, you can follow our linear walk to Herriard Green, a beautiful park with paths mown through wildflower meadows and a very good play area
Silchester Roman Town Walls
The city walls of what was once Calleva Atrebatum are remarkably well preserved, and on this free-to-enter walk around the circumference, you will clearly be able to see the Roman fortifications as well as one of the best preserved amphitheatres in England.
Watership Down
“Come and look, you can see the whole world up here”, say the rabbits as they arrive at Watership Down. You can follow in their footsteps and look out for locations from Richard Adams’ famous novel on this walk in the North Wessex Downs National Landscape.
Beggarwood Park
Children will want to head straight to the play area and pump track at Beggarwood Park, so it is a good job the walk is super short and easy!
Odiham and King John’s Castle
A walk along the Basingstoke canal never disappoints and this one has some bonus features such as a waterside pub, a ford to paddle in and the free to entre ruins of King John’s Castle.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
Covering two national parks and two national landscapes, our detailed guides have all the information you need to get the whole family out walking right away.
